About Us

Founded in 1979 by Barb, Alaska Leather began with her sewing fur hats in Anchorage, Alaska. Through hard work and a passion for quality, Barb grew the business into the largest aftermarket motorcycle retailer in the state. Along the way, she created her now-famous Buttpads®, a product that continues to be beloved by riders everywhere.

Today, after decades of dedication, Barb is passing the torch to her youngest daughter, Alexi, and her grandchild, Ali. Barb may be stepping back to enjoy a well-earned retirement, but her expertise and legacy will always be a part of the business.

Alexi, after years of service in the Military and Federal Service, made the decision to retire from her federal career and continue the family business. With a fresh start, Alexi relocated to Belen, New Mexico, where the weather is better, shipping is more affordable, and riding is a year-round joy!
